Work Choice preferred bidders delayed ... now it's official

Almost a week after it was due to announce results of the Work Choice bidding, DWP posted a "we regret" notice on their website.

The Department's notice says "there will be a short delay in notifying the outcome of the Work Choice competition to organisations that have been selected as Preferred Bidders."

The stated reason for delay is because DWP "received a large number of bids ... (and) it means that the evaluation is taking a little longer than expected. However, DWP does not expect "the delay to impact the transition period or the planned 'go live' date" in October.

That would sound less than a trifle optimistic if DWP could give at least some indication of when this extensive evaluation will be undertaken by. Is it a few days days or a few weeks? This delay in reporting the tender result is causing concern in the industry. However, Indus Delta believes that DWP will be making the announcement soon. There is little doubt that the Government wants to get this out before the election is announced
