Press Release: Disabled Living Foundation and Shaw Trust partnership agreed

The Disabled Living Foundation (DLF), a national charity providing impartial advice, information and training on independent living for over 40 years, has joined forces with Shaw Trust. The charities will merge at the end of November and DLF will retain its name, identity and staff.

The merger creates new opportunities for both organisations and will see the development ofDLF’s essential information, advice and training. For Shaw Trust it enables the charity to develop its advisory services such as information, guidance and sign-posting for those it currently supports – and to a much wider community too. This ranges from its Work Choice clients, to those gaining skills at its social enterprises and the students at schools it sponsors through Shaw Education Trust.

Shaw Trust will be able to therefore provide richer and more all-encompassing support services so more people can have the opportunity for employment, inclusion and independence.

My heart goes out to those working for DLF. As a former Shaw Trust employee who was caught up in the last "merger" with CDG you my sympathy, where the CDG management rode roughshod over all that was great at Shaw Trust. Stay positive and challenge any example of bad practice, the former CDG management have little regard for the legal or moral aspects affecting "mergers".
