The latest statistics also show that 32% of decisions are being appealed and the rate of successful appeals against “fit for work” decisions remains high at 40 %. The Welfare Reform 2009 commits the Government to undertaking an annual review of the Work Capability Assessment (WCA) and the Government has announced that an independent review of the WCA will be undertaken by Professor Malcolm Harrington.
