About the conference
This one-day conference will explore the role of skills provision and “upskilling” in meeting the objectives of the government’s Work Programme to help long-term unemployed people into sustained work. The Work Programme model puts the onus on prime contractors to decide what works best to help people into work, but the challenge of keeping people in work for up to two years means upskilling is firmly on the agenda. Effective and innovative partnerships – driven by a clear business case – between Work Programme providers and those delivering skills training will be an important part of meeting sustainability targets. This conference will bring together Work Programme and skills providers along with employers, local authorities, colleges, third-sector organisations, policy makers and other partners to share best practice and look ahead to how working together the unemployment challenge can be met.
This partnership event is organised by AELP, Inclusion and UKCES.
