New Deal

New Deal was introduced in 1998 by the new Labour government in order to bring active labour market policies into the UK welfare system. A range of different programmes were set up to provide support for different types of benefit claimant, with delivery by a mixture of public, private and third sector organisations.

The current New Deal programmes include:
New Deal for Young People
New Deal 25 plus
New Deal 50 plus
New Deal for Lone Parents (NDLP)
New Deal for Disabled People (NDDP)
New Deal for Partners
New Deal for Musicians

Of these, all except NDLP and NDDP will be replaced by [[flexible New Deal]] over two phases of rollout in 2009 and 2010.
