NDDP/Pathways to Work Staff

Just wondering how many pathways to work staff have already been made redundant, the provider I work for claims that TUPE should apply for NDDP/Pathways, although the forum gives little hope that this is the case. Have any Pathways staff that are still in consultation heard anything about the issue?

Announcement of work programme winners

Has anyone else heard rumours that the announcement of the winners of the work programme contracts has been brought forward and being announced this week?

Pathways covered by TUPE?

I am a consultant working on the Pathways contract which is due to finish on the 27th April 2011 and have been told that we are not going to be covered by TUPE does anyone have anymore information on this? We have been told that we will be being made redundant

Pathways - DWP planned changes and implications

We have had notification from DWP that there is going to be a change to the referral process for Pathways from March 15th. Basically the way it works now is that as soon as someone makes a claim to ESA they have their first Work Focused Interview (WFI) with JCP then are referred straight to Pathways Provider. We then conduct monthly WFI's. Throughout this time, clients are waiting on their medical appointment date coming through - usually they have this month 3 whilst they with us. Approx 80% of people are found fit and moved to JSA.

Interview with Employment Minister Jim Knight MP

Yesterday I met with Jim Knight MP in Parliament to talk about a number of topics surrounding the welfare to work industry. A very pleasant, well-informed and open interviewee, the Employment Minister found time to answer a number of questions put to him by readers of Indus Delta. The following is not in direct quote form, but a summary of what the Minister had to say on each topic.

DWP White Paper - 'Building Britain’s Recovery'

Updated 17/12 - DWP published their White Paper on Tuesday, aimed at 'Building Britain's Recovery: Achieving Full Employment'. I've had a good read through, and would defnitely recommend reading the summary which is here, as it really is full of content. The summary below is made up of useful excerpts I've picked out from the White Paper, including a bit of background to set out what the Bill is being based on.

Overall, there are a lot of reforms set out here, including more information on skills accounts, 'better off in work' credit, and additional plans to tackle youth unemployment. There is also a lot in there for working families, lone parents, carers, and people with disabilities. This White Paper is by no means a short-term plan to fend off the recession, but outlines reform in all key areas - more powers to Jobcentre Plus staff, Housing Benefit reform, a review of Pathways to Work, and an aim to work back up towards full employment.

Pathways to Lessons Learnt

It's by now an open secret the Pathways to Work doesn't. Of course there have been some swallows, but no summer. This is far from surprising as Pathways was quite clearly a failed policy from the beginning. But can we learn anything from this, and what are the implications for the FND beast? Indeed, does FND have a similar signature - an evaluation term used to highlight a recurring theme or pattern that is clear to the trained eye. And if FND does have a similar signature what can we do about it. In short, can we learn anything from Pathways.
