Is the Work Programme working for the Voluntary Sector

Patrick Butler writes in the Guardian that the Work Programme is not working for young people. He then goes on to review an evaluation of New Deal of the Mind, which found outcomes for 70% of customers. His article is a critique of the Prime/subcontractor relationship, particularly with regard to the voluntary sector's involvement, or lack of it, as he sees it. Is this a fair criticism of the Work Programme? Was it designed to support voluntary sector provision?

Eric Pickles, Communities Secretary, has promised to end local authority appointments he has labelled ‘non-jobs’, according to the Guardian.

Strong rise in permanent and temporary jobs according to REC/KPMG report

Both permanent and temporary staff appointments experienced a “further strong rise” in permanent staff placements during June, albeit at the slowest rate in 5 months, rates according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG Report on Jobs. The report, which was published today, also finds that growth of temporary/contract staff billings eased to a seven month low and that wages and salaries continued to rise.

Advice for an advisor looking for new company to join

Hi, I am new to the site and was hoping to get some advice on the best direction for an employment advisor since the new changes within w2w. I have been working within w2w for about a year now and now that it is where I want to be for a while. I enjoy my role as an advisor and found that I am very good with clients and particularly good at motivating clients and inspiring them to raise their aspirations.
