The Work Focused Health Related Assessment of the Work Capability Assessment suspended for 2 years

The Government has decided to suspend the Work Focused Health Related Assessment (WFHRA) element of the Work Capability Assessment for 2 years.

The DWP has stated in a letter to the JCP Customer Representative Group Forum:

“The WFHRA’s suspension for the next 2 years will provide an opportunity for DWP to reconsider the WFHRA’s purpose and delivery. It also improves the capacity to focus on and cope with the demands of the reassessment of existing incapacity benefit customers.  Individuals in the WRAG will retain the crucial support of their Personal Advisers who help them focus on what they can do, taking any medical condition into account.

In addition, we will begin reassessing claimants currently in receipt of incapacity benefits for possible entitlement to Employment and Support beginning in October 2010.The suspension will be effective from Monday 19 July 2010.”
