Press release: G4S appoints new Managing Director for Welfare to Work

G4S Care & Justice Services today welcomes Sean Williams to the business, taking up the role of Managing Director of its Welfare to Work division.  Bringing with him a decade of experience in helping disadvantaged jobseekers into secure and sustainable employment, Sean’s appointment is a critical element in G4S’s strategy to become the largest provider of welfare-to-work services in the UK under the Coalition Government's new Work Programme.

Sean said, “The Work Programme represents a unique opportunity to improve the lives of the 5½ million people of working age currently claiming out-of-work benefits.. G4S are a long-term partner for the reform and improvement of welfare-to-work in the UK and it’s a great time to be joining an organisation with the scale, capacity, jobs, partners and vision to transform welfare-to-work in this country for the better.”

Before joining G4S, Sean was the Development Director for Serco Welfare to Work where he led their successful entry into the employment services space. Prior to this role, Sean led front-line welfare-to-work operations in the UK and Australia, helping many thousands of disadvantaged unemployed individuals to find work.  His career to date also includes roles with Ingeus and Working Links where he gained experience in both policy and programme design and operational management.

David Banks, Group Managing Director of G4S Care and Justice Services said, “Sean brings a breadth of operational, delivery and policy experience in welfare-to-work that is unmatched and we are delighted to have secured him for our team.  We invest heavily in nurturing our own people through training and development and are consequently well placed to transfer this knowledge into the welfare-to-work arena. Our moral imperative is to do more to help unemployed people to find decent, meaningful employment and we know that Sean will embrace the challenge of doing so.”
