Chris Grayling and Lord Freud informed providers at a meeting yesterday that they will have to wait at least two weeks before receiving clarity on the fate of existing contracts and the future of provision. Writing in the Financial Times, Nick Timmins highlighted the intention of both Ministers to ‘set a breakneck pace in getting the government’s new single work programme up and running’. The challenges of getting the pricing structure regime right for the new scheme and the need for larger contracts was also discussed at the meeting. Ministers emphasised that the role of the voluntary sector would be central in the delivery of new single work programme. For further information please visit Financial Times.

Surely they only way they can do this is for a massive re-tender.
voluntary sector has vital link with the community. It is access by members of the community for all sorts of reason. Advise, guidance, personnel issues etc. Adding employment advice and guidance to their portfolio will be right match.
I work for a Prime contractor and work with a few voluntary organisations and I have to say although we are still in he early days of the program I have been pleasantly surprised by their ability. Their comparative performance is above some private sector businesses. For the most part training organisations are the ones that struggle.
