Starting tomorrow evening on Channel 4, “The Fairy Jobmother”, is a new reality TV show in which the Fairy Jobmother (aka former A4E employee Hayley Taylor) works with long-term benefit claimants to help them find employment. The programme tracks Hayley Taylor as she moves in with families experiencing long term unemployment and attempts to improve their employment prospects with her advice and guidance.
The first episode will be aired on Tuesday 13 July at 9.30pm.
An interview with Hayley Taylor is featured on the Channel 4 website

Its about time the media got involved in showing the struggle and the challenges people face... You go Hayley - can't wait to watch it tonight!
Wasn't April 1st a few months past? I can't believe what I was reading! I really thought this must of been some kind of joke until I checked the Channel 4 website. I'm glad I don't own a TV, nor pay a licence fee. I'd demand a refund!
I wonder if these kind of programmes will become more and more common as the economy gets worse and worse? How about a reality series based inside a Jobcentre? It could be like some kind of Airport-type programme (you read it here first). I also wonder if Emma Moneybags was involved in any way and also why the 'star' of the show isn't still employed with A4E? Did she resign? Was she just 'too hot to handle'? Or maybe she just couldn't achieve her new targets?
What we need are programmes that discuss the political changes necessary for real socioeconomic growth - but don't hold your breath waiting!
On the positive side, I'll be anticipating reading and enjoying the many comments that will be flooding in once episode one has been telecast - which will definitely be far more interesting than watching this rubbish.
Shame on you Channel 4!
Looks like Haykley's next stop is Hollywood, see below.
LA CASTING:
Have you been out of the workforce for a significant amount of time? Have you lost hope at having a career? Is the bad economy weighing down you and your family? Hayley Taylor, career specialist who has successfully helped countless numbers of people on a show of the same name in the UK, is looking to help the perpetually unemployed finally get past their problems and finally obtain and keep a job on this side of the ocean.
Seeking:
- Unemployed men and women
- Ages 18 and up
- Must be a legal US resident and able to work in the US
- Must have a dynamic personality
- Men, women, families, couples, etc.
Better across the pond than here! I am a frequent traveller to America and know that Hayley will fit right in - if you catch my drift, but what does she know about American culture? Not much I bet. Anyway, most people in the States (just like here) will do anything for money. I wonder how much the participants on the programme were paid to appear? I don't believe that they'd do it for nothing. SPOILER ALERT: I read on another site that the man on the first episode eventually got a job paying something like £5.80 an hour. Do you think that he's still employed? If one can really live on a £5.80 an hour, good luck. This show sounds so patronising.
Maybe one day my Jobcentre reality series idea will make it to the small screen.
Producers, take note.
Adam: Not sure if the following is what you are looking for.
The link below is to a series of audio recordings made by a jobseeker during a Jobcentre meeting with a New Deal Advisor. He refused to go on the New Deal. Scroll down past the Jobcentre picture to see the links for the audio recordings!

Thanx FwF. Good stuff!
This should be mandatory listening for everyone who works in any JCP. Nuff said without going too much off-topic. It will be interesting to check back at about 11:00 tonite and watch the fireworks! Meanwhile, I'm off to the pub!
the jobseekers direction is the power that lets jobcenter plus staff instruct you, under threat of sanction, to take steps aimed at improving your chances of finding work. the direction given to you by jobcenter plus staff must be reasonable for your circumstances.
the instructions must be given in writing!!!!!!! in order to qualify as a direction. was it reasonable to send him on a w2w course the next day hmm did he get the request in writing nooooooooooooooo and yes you can live on £5.80 an hour, http://www.lifeinthemixtalk.com/?cat=6103
Episode one, I have never seen anything so staged in all my life. Yes every person can walk into work experience, have their teeth fixed and be guaranteed interviews for full time work that requires absolutely no experience.
An affront to everyone. Channel 4 and Hayley Taylor should be utterly ashamed of themselves for trotting out this purile and demeaning attempt at life as a job seeker.
Wonder how much Hayley is being paid, oh yes and I hear she is still with A4E - nice publicity Emma !!!
