Rehab UK
Rehab UK is a registered charity that was established in the UK in 1994 and is part of Rehab Group founded in 1948 in Ireland, providing a range of care, rehabilitation, training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Rehab UK is a not for profit organisation and employs approximately 75-80 staff at its three Centres based in Birmingham, London and Newcastle upon Tyne and provides assessment, training and development programmes for people with an Acquired Brain Injury.
Work Prep
This programme provides work experience placements and vocational guidance and support to clients to enable them to either return to their previous or secure new employment. The service offers educational and vocational training and support from a team of Psychologists, Specialist Tutors, Job Coaches and Volunteers.
Work Preparation and Job Training Services play a major role in the vocational service. Important concepts include: identifying an appropriate vocational option for each client through assessment of their vocational strengths and weaknesses. Training is targeted at client’s vocational preferences, providing both the on-going training needs of clients in placement and support to acquire vocational qualifications through adult educational services. Job Training and Work Preparation Services help to prepare clients for final transition into job placement or further education or voluntary services.
The Vocational Planning Service also offers Job Coaching which involves identification of work placements and individual on-the-job training. The main aims of Job Coaching are to provide training in social and business skills, and to develop self confidence and interpersonal skills. For each client we develop an Individual Programme Plan which will meet the vocational and training needs of that client and to identify realistic vocational options. This service is designed to serve clients who are ready to re-integrate into the competitive employment market - but require intensive initial support into employment. It provides on-the-job training for a specific job with ongoing support for the client and employer by a Job Coach. The training and support is available until the client is fully competent in all aspects of the job.
The final stage of the Vocational Planning programme is Job Placement and Follow-Up Support. The main aims are to secure full or part-time suitable paid employment we aim to sustain a client in paid employment, provide advice, guidance and support to employers and to follow-up and re-assess clients as required. This service assists clients to secure paid employment or further education / training, thus helping them to regain social and economic independence.
