SIA Training in FND

hi

We are a SIA training company which do SIA, food and hygiene , health and safety, first aid and many more trainings for various primes. However i always get frustrated and never know who to approach and speak to in new companies who are primes too!

We offer such great benefits and know the whole welfare to work work process that it frustrates us that we never know who to speak with and end up going round in circles.

what would you suggest?

If you're wholly confident on finding your learners work, I'd suggest approaching primes with a "No Job, No Fee" pricing proposal. As we move nearer to 100% outcome funding, it should be possible for you to broker a deal whereby you earn an appropriate amount for a job start & a retained job too.

Also, monitor your leavers. The more that you can brag about job retention, the more attractive you'll appear.

As for who to speak to, there's a list of the primes on this site, but also watch the DWP website for attendee lists for events that they've held.

Thanks for the suggestion. Issue is we are a training company and cannot " guarantee jobs " but work with security companies who do recruit.

Also we would not be able to train without getting paid as costs of certificiates and trainers are quite high. But i appreciate your thoughts and if you have any more ideas do let us know

Thanks

And therein lies the dilemma. As DWP have moved away from funding training, you're really left with 3 choices:

1. Offer job outcomes as part of the package to DWP primes that will assist in meeting their performance & income targets.
2. Get funding from the SFA through a Skills for Jobs type of provision, or subcontract from an existing provider (with all the caveats thrown in about the uncertainty of the SFA'a future).
3. Scope out some other-funded provision, such as RDA/ESF or local authority monies that put the emphasis on upskilling the unemployed, rather than placing them into work (a rarity).

With all due respect, SIA training companies are commonplace in the sector now, so you would benefit from offering something either unique or of very relevant value and, with DWP providers, the latter will always equate to jobs.
